The Creo Lotem 800 Quantum at Wallace State Printing offers state of the art DTP (Direct To Plate) technology with full automation.
We realize that “DTP” is not new. The technology has been around for several years and many printers became early adopters of the technology. Wallace – State Printing decided to wait for the technology to mature before making the jump to an all-digital workflow. Looking at the results, we feel it was a good choice.
Wallace - State Printing was the first in the Southeast to install the fully automated Lotem 800 platesetter. With this automated system, operators do not handle plates until imaging and processing is complete. After processing, a quality control check is performed on each plate to insure accuracy. As a final inspection for accuracy, a new HP 5000 ink-jet imager was added to produce vellum-like overlays to check spot colors and image position.
Our transition to a fully digital workflow has gone very smoothly because we took the time to allow the technology to mature and establish the digital workfow ahead of time. When the platesetter arrived, we were prepared to make the switch to digital plates quickly and efficiently. As a result of this smooth implementation, our image reproduction quality has improved, our press makeready times have been reduced, and our throughput has increased – all focused on improving the experience our customers receive when working with the Wallace – State Printing team.
