State Printing provides solutions to meet your print and graphic communications needs. First, by understanding your objectives for connecting with your clients, then by working closely with your team to define a solution that is unique to your specific requirements we will deliver an experience that provides value beyond the mere cost of ink and paper; with the bottom line of adding value to your company, team, or project.

Located in Columbia, South Carolina and founded in 1891 as a part of South Carolinas largest newspaper, State Printing was founded to produce inserts and other printed material separate from the web-fed newsprint printing process available at the newspaper. State Printing was reorganized as a separate corporate subsidiary in 1945 and two years later, moved into its own building in the heart of downtown Columbia.

Following a strategy of deliberate and sustained growth, State emerged as the leading print supplier in South Carolina. As new technologies found their way into the marketplace, State matched what they had to offer with the ever-changing demands of its customers and responded accordingly. Soon, the name of State Printing was synonymous not only with quality printing, but technical sophistication as well.

In 1981, the company moved into a new 60,000 square foot headquarters designed by the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation. In the mid-1980s, The State Newspaper, and State Printing, were purchased by Miami-based, Knight-Ridder. Shortly thereafter, we were sold to Graphic Industries of Atlanta; a national network of commercial print suppliers providing a full range of printing and related services.

By 1997, State Printing and its 165 employees were serving more than 400 clients throughout the Southeastern Unites States. Annual sales had gown to $20 million and more changes were on the way.

In December 1997, Wallace Computer Services acquired Graphic Industries. Wallace, founded in 1908 as a commercial printer in Lisle, Illinois was the nation's leader in print management and consumable supplies management services, and a major manufacturer and distributor of an array of business documents including, forms, office supplies, direct mail, direct response and imaging, labels, catalogues and directories, and marketing and point-of-sale materials. This provided the opportunity for State Printing to be introduced to many of the Fortune 500 companies throughout the United States - expanding its national client base.

In June of 2003, Wallace Computer Services merged with the Moore Corporation and State Printing became an operating company of the Moore Corporation. Just a few short months later, in January 2004, RR Donnelley purchased the Moore Corporation and State Printing became the South Carolina home of the nations largest commercial printing and graphics communications company.

Today, State Printing has grown to over $25 million and is the working home for 126 families. Over the past few years, more than $8 million in new equipment and technology have been added, including two 40-inch, six-color presses with coating capabilities, high-speed folding, binding, and die cutting equipment, state-of-the-art digital prepress systems and technologies, and cutting edge workflow systems to streamline the flow of production. Also during this time, we remodeled our facility with modern customer amenities to make your visit to State Printing a more enjoyable experience.

Today, we deploy the latest in digital prepress, printing, and finishing technology as well as fulfillment and inventory management systems.
