State Printing recognizes that we have obligations not only to the customers we serve, but also to the general community well-being. As part of that commitment, we have embraced organization-wide practices designed to protect the environment. These run the spectrum from reuse and recycling, to energy conservation, to adopting processes that eliminate the need for potentially harmful materials. Regardless of what form this environmental stewardship takes, it underscores our long-standing belief that business success is as much about social responsibility as it is about superior service and exceptional quality.
- Paper Recycling
: All of our waste paper is processed through a paper recycler; for re-use in making craft paper, cardboard boxes and other paper based products. We recycle over 900 tons of waste paper per year.
- Ink Recycling
: We collect and dispose of waste ink through an ink recycling process. Our waste ink never reaches a landfill. Whenever possible, we recycle our waste inks to make new ink colors for future work.
- Water
: All of our systems are designed to eliminate the pollution of water that leaves our plant. All prepress systems including printing plate and proofing processors use waterless developing technology.
- Plastic and Silver
: Investments have been made in prepress systems that do not use film for image transfer or plastic carriers for proof and plate exposure; thus, nothing to the landfill.
- Aluminum Recycling
: Our printing plates are recycled to be re-used in a variety of common household products.
- Elimination of Alcohol
: We only use environmentally safe alcohol substitutes in our printing process.
- Energy Conservation
: Skylights provide natural lighting at our plant; we have also installed photosensitive switches on many of our lights to reduce electricity use when natural light is available. Where possible, we use high-efficiency lighting systems to further reduce energy use.
