Our integrated print fulfillment services include the planning and cost effective execution of the supply chain of printed materials and information from the point of origin to the point of utilization. We can supply digital print-on-demand or just-in-time offset print with off-the-shelf inventory in quantities desired by the end user, packaged and quickly delivered in the manner requested. Our print fulfillment services allow for the optimum method of production and fulfillment from long run produced and stored inventory to digital print-on-demand produced upon request from end user through a series of networked facilities strategically located throughout the United States and Canada. This allows customers to avoid fixed costs and capital expenditures in maintaining internal operations while converting to an entirely variable activity cost basis.
Start with a pocket folder, add a three-fold brochure, include a stitched booklet, combine an application form, and you have the recipe for an effective kit. Kitting and fulfillment have long been intensely manual processes, but we have implemented quality programs and technologies to create automated operations that meet the most exacting standards.
What can we kit? Special promotion packages, new store kits, product launches, customer welcome kits, franchisee signage and supplies, insurance and bank follow-up packets, cross-selling literature and custom rate cards, and targeted communications of all kinds. We can pack and deliver a truck loads, a pallet, a carton, or an envelope; on its way, on budget, on schedule. We regularly stage, package, and distribute products for mass distributions.
The Three Types of Kitting Services:
- Standard assembly services are applied when kits can be assembled and then stored for future distribution. For this type of kit, we would determine the acceptable stocking level and assemble the appropriate amount.
- Custom fulfillment services are applied when kits cannot be pre-assembled. Typically there is at least one component of the kit that must be personalized for each recipient. Minimum stocking levels of the components are maintained in the assembly area and replenished as necessary.
- E-fulfillment services involve combining printed and electronic components into a single master item. Electronic kitting allows us to assemble materials by reaching into digital asset libraries to pull the required images and kit them together.
Warehousing
RR Donnelley has a long history of managing and distributing product for our clients. Through our nation-wide warehousing system, RR Donnelley Logistics, and our print fulfillment services, we can offer a way to increase control over material handling, reducing costs, and improving service levels.
Each of our logistics and fulfillment centers utilizes sophisticated software, barcode automation and radio frequency communication. This process assigns incoming items to the most efficient warehouse location. When an order is placed, this same technology generates picking tickets arranged in a least traveled path order, specifies the bin location with barcodes to ensure accurate picking, adjusts inventory quantities and routes the package to the correct shipping dock for distribution.
Our 21 logistics and fulfillment facilities in the United States and 7 facilities in Canada provide one-day shipments to over 97% of North America. Our centers are strategically located and easily accessible to the most cost-effective freight and transportation lanes to ensuring timely delivery at the lowest possible rate.
Distribution
RR Donnelley can perform a variety of fulfillment services from any one of our more than twenty logistics and fulfillment centers located throughout North America. All facilities are geographically located to provide the quickest possible delivery. Our fulfillment centers are staffed by bonded associates and will provide emergency services day or night, 365 days a year.
RR Donnelley is equipped to warehouse all your product, whether it be manufactured by RR Donnelley or by another vendor. Our network of centers provides full carton, pick and pack, commingling, commercial print, and kit fulfillment products and services. In addition, our regional Data service centers can respond to requests generated by direct mail and web encounters by providing brochures and other collateral, with personalized template letters.
